The collection contains postcards that depict Bates College buildings and grounds, people, events, and curricular and athletic events. A number of postcards (in the 880 sub-series) are of buildings and locations around Lewiston and Auburn, Maine. Most of the postcards were professionally produced, but some have what are likely unique images taken by people associated with Bates, particularly in the Athletics and Student Life series.
