King, Coretta Scott, 1968
Scope and Content Note
This series consists of correspondence between close family friends whose relationship with John Tagliabue and his wife span four or more decades as well as general correspondents. There is also a large amount of correspondence of a professional nature. Folders are placed in alphabetical order and correspondence within each folder is arranged chronologically. Only correspondence with three or more letters is assigned individual folders. Any correspondence to or from Tagliabue that constitute an exchange of only one or two letters are placed in general folders with alphabetical headings arranged in order by the author or recipient's last name. The only exception to the above arrangement is letters between Tagliabue and well known figures. Such prominent persons retain a separate subject file; however, many of these are individual form letters and may be of no interest to the researcher. Some of these correspondents include: Robert Kennedy, Corretta Scott King, State Senator Olympia Snowe, First Lady Rosalyn Carter (Jimmy Carter), and President George Bush. Correspondence exchange with lesser known figures fall within the previous outlined arrangement. Many of these persons are academically or locally known poets.
