The series contains correspondence between John Tagliabue and Ilene Avery. Ilene Avery was a close friend of both Grace and John Tagliabue dating back to the 1950s. Avery later moved to Spain to run a small school, after serving as a professor at Bates College. Occasionally, John Tagliabue would teach in the school during the summer.
