Series Overview From the Series: In 1940 Muskie purchased the law practice of deceased Waterville attorney Carl Blackington. Muskie maintained the practice until his reelection as governor in 1956. Most of his legal work consisted of civil cases such as probate pleadings, trustee accounts, domestic issues, contracts, tax adjudications, and suits filed by individuals and local businesses in the Waterville area.
