Scope and Content Note From the Series:

Contains correspondence, reports, programs, brochures, ledgers, and meeting books of a number of student organizations, for which the Archives has very little material. The series begins with four folders of general information relating to clubs across campus. Organizations with larger collections can be found in subsequent series or in other sub-groups (CA 12.04 through 12.06).

Scope and Content Note From the Series: The Bates Athletic Association was established in June, 1880, to control the activities of the various Bates College athletic teams. The precursor to the Athletic Association was the Baseball Association, created in 1874. In 1903 a faculty-led Advisory Council (later the Advisory Board) was created, after the student-led Athletic Association had run up debts of $1,600.
