George Sampson diaries
Scope and Content
Collection consists of 26 pocket diaries kept by George Sampson from 1886 through 1912. There are two missing years, 1895 and 1906. The brief entries document Sampson's activities, mostly farming, work, and social events, along with brief notations about the weather. Included are entries during his time as a student at Bates College (Class of 1905).

Biographical Note
George G. Sampson was born in 1873 in Temple, Maine, and spent much of his childhood there and in Farmington. After graduating from Bates in 1905, he moved to Upton, Massachusetts, and taught school there. He moved to Worcester in 1908, teaching school and earning a Masters degree at Clark University in 1911. Sampson died in 1973.
