The collection is comprised of correspondence, bird counts, and notes about bird sightings in and around Portland, Maine compiled by Florence James Cyr. It includes her monthly inventories of birds sighted from 1994 to 2003.

Historical Note
Florence James was born November 6, 1912, and attended Bates College, graduating with honors in 1933. While at Bates, she participated in the Outing Club, Student Government and House Council. She married Lawrence A. Cyr and lived in Scarborough, Maine, where she pursued her interests in birding, antiquing, and gardening.
