 File — Box: 6

Collection Overview

From the Collection:

The collection contains incoming and some outgoing correspondence of Bates professor Fred Pomeroy. The majority of the letters is with former students, many of whom maintained long and close relationships with their former professor following graduation. Many letters pertain to the placement of former students in graduate programs and professional positions.

The collection also contains letters with colleagues, friends, and other professional and personal associates. Pomeroy was particularly interested in documenting the number and nature of Bates graduates working in biology, as evidenced by his 1947 publication on the subject. The collection includes correspondence related to this research. Other letters pertain to his work with the Stanton Bird Club and Wavus camp. The collection also contains a few miscellaneous items, such as photographs, which are filed with the non-Bates related correspondence.
