Scope and Content Note
Includes typed manuscript of part of The Edge of the Sea; an early outline of work that became Silent Spring; four draft chapters of Silent Spring; and two other works: "The Treasure Chest of Favorite Sea Books" and "Poetry and the Sea." Both The Edge of the Sea and Silent Spring were serialized in the New Yorker, August 20 & 27, 1955 and June 16, 23, & 30 respectively. These five issues are housed in this sub-series as well as other articles published by Rachel Carson in the Atlantic, Johns Hopkins Magazine, and others.
