Series contains Vicki Chute's journal which describes the people and events she encountered during her month in Mississippi including her fellow civil rights workers; living conditions; people she interacted with including host families and students; incidents of police harrassement; canvassing for voter registration; setting up freedom school and lessons taught; other material includes a copy of the "Madison County Citizen" newsletter; "Profiles of Typical Freedom Schools" document; typescript of Vicki Chute's play "Set on Freedom;" typescript of excerpts from her journal and a few of the letters sent to her. Also contains a few pieces of melted glass and nails from the burned freedom school building where she taught in Gluckstadt, Mississippi.
