Reel-to-reel tapes, 1947-1982, undated
Scope and Contents
This sub-series contains 115 quarter-inch reel-to-reel audio tapes of lectures, performances, and radio and television appearances by Glazer. Only 26 tapes remain undated at the time of this writing. These items are arranged chronologically, with undated items are at the end of the dated items. Dating these items is ongoing.
Many of the earliest recordings are from programs that aired on WTMJ television, in Milwaukee, although several items were aired from stations in New York City, Chicago, and Rochester, New York. Reels with programs such as "Adventures in Music," "Adults Only," and "Playhouse 15" were likely recorded onto audio tapes either by the studio, or by Glazer. Unfortunately, the Archives does not have the video to these performances. The program "Playhouse 15" features prominently here, and was sponsored by Adelman Laundry, a successful local/regional business. Forty-nine episodes of this program were aired, and the Archives is only missing two (from August 25 and September 1, 1955).
Most of these recordings have been digitized and are made available here, with exceptions. Where identified, recordings from studio albums (or portions of or edited cuts from) have been omitted. In addition, several tapes were of low quality or indeterminate content, and were also omitted. Duplicate reels are listed, but digital files are not included for these items. Please contact Archives staff with any questions.
