Correspondence, 1921 Sept 29 - 1923 June
Scope and Content Note
More than 200 letters written by Mabel Simmons, while a student at Bates College to her family in Stoughton, Massachusetts. These letters span Simmons' academic student years at Bates from the fall of 1919, when she entered as a freshman, to the spring of 1923 when she graduated. The bulk of the letters are written to her mother, although she frequently wrote to both her father and her two younger sisters, Elsie and Helen. Together with her memory book which is also included in the collection, the letters provided a detailed glimpse into all aspects of her social and academic life at Bates.
