Ward VI., 1933
Scope and Content Note
Records of the annual census conducted by the Lewisston School Department. Each year, the department conducted a census to record the number of school-aged children in each of the city's seven wards. The census taker recorded the name, age, address, and ethnic and racial background of each child. In addition, the parent's occupation was also recorded. The data was used to ensure that Lewiston received its apporopriate portion of state money to support the schools. Note that the record book for Ward I, 1939, is missing.
